Tewkesbury Medieval Battles 2013

On the weekend that was officially dubbed at 30c a heat wave here in the UK, Approximately three thousand warriors dressed in 50 pounds plus of steel armour reenacted the 1471 War of the Roses. This event is held every year on the same field as the actual battle took place back then and is truly a spectacle. I try and go there every year as you can get some great period shots around the camp as well as on the battle field.

NB: So the saying goes, at the end of a days battle the archers would all stand in line facing the enemy and show they still had their two fingers to pull the bow strings and so fight another day. Centuries later this gesture has evolved some but I feel still sends the same message.
